We had the privilege of attending the official release of Karnataka’s groundbreaking Cyber Security Policy, launched by the Department of IT, BT, and S&T, Government of Karnataka. With an estimated investment of close to 110 crore, this policy is set to revolutionize Karnataka’s approach to cybersecurity, solidifying its position as a national leader in this critical area.

The policy is divided into two key parts:

  1. Building a Strong Cybersecurity Ecosystem: This aspect focuses on fostering a robust cybersecurity culture across all segments of society, including public sectors, academia, industry, start-ups, and government bodies. By involving these diverse stakeholders, the policy aims to create a cohesive and resilient cybersecurity framework that benefits all.

  2. Strengthening the Cybersecurity Posture of State IT Assets: While the first part is publicly accessible, the second part of the policy is more strategic, focusing on fortifying the state’s IT infrastructure. This will involve internal measures within the state’s IT teams and departments to ensure robust cybersecurity defenses in all IT implementations.

This forward-looking policy by Karnataka is a monumental step in enhancing the state’s cybersecurity landscape, ensuring a secure digital environment for all. With these initiatives, Karnataka is poised to become a trailblazer in the cybersecurity domain, setting a benchmark.
